Intermediate or Senior Engineering Geologist
Our small but growing ground engineering consultancy is looking for an experienced Engineering Geologist to work with our existing group of geotechnical professionals.

We are looking to hire either an Intermediate or Senior Engineering Geologist with between 4-12 years’ experience. We offer a competitive salary package and the support you need to advance your career.
Baseline Geotechnical provides the full spectrum of geotechnical pre-feasibility through detailed design assessments, where structures meet the ground. We also are also specialists in natural hazard assessment and remediation. Our client base is broad and we operate across the civil infrastructure, quarrying and mining, natural hazard, industrial and land development sectors.
Depending on your experience you can expect your role to incorporate:
Technical:
- Desktop assessments, including aerial photographic interpretation and review/synthesis of existing information.
- Engineering geological mapping, geomorphic mapping, mapping of rock structure, landslide mapping.
- Development of geological models and preparation of interpretative reports.
- Analysis of geotechnical data, reporting on foundations, soil & rock slope stability, earthworks, dams.
Project Management:
- Scoping and pricing projects.
- Planning and delivery of ground investigation campaigns including directing and supporting field staff.
- Responsibility for budget and programme control for your projects.
- Client Management. We encourage our intermediate and senior staff to liaise with our clients directly and help manage those relationships.
Mentoring and support for our Graduate Engineering Geologist
Your development:
- You will work closely with our Principal Engineering Geologist who has more than 25 years’ experience in the industry. Because of our size we are better placed than most to help you develop your career as we can provide one-on-one advice and support on a day-to-day basis.
- You will gain exposure to a range of geological and geomorphic environments and their associated geotechnical risks.
- You will also gain exposure to a range of client entities that include large infrastructure providers, large quarry and mine operators, commercial developers and regulatory authorities.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Post graduate qualifications in Engineering or Applied Geology.
- Chartered Member of Engineering New Zealand (PEngGeol) or working towards Chartership.
