Regulatory review - Geotechnical
Client: Waikato Regional Council + Palmerston North City Council
Provision of specialist geotechnical review for Regional and City Councils to support their processing of resource consent applications, including development of appropriate geotechnical consent conditions. Review of applicants management plans and compliance with geotechnical related consent conditions during construction works.

Pit Extensions at Brookby & Smythes Quarries

Geotechnical design support for the extension projects and associated resource consent applications for both Brookby and Smythes Quarries.
Our Role
- Detailed pit wall mapping of rock structure, lithology and weathering profiles.
- Summary logging of ~600m of resource borehole core.
- Kinematic and slope stability analyses.
- Proposed pit-shell design, cross sections and structural maps.
- Feasibility geotechnical assessment reporting to support resource consent application.
- Annual reporting focussing on the health and safety and operations context of the quarry.
Dolomite Point, Punakaiki - Rockfall Hazard, Peer Review
Client: Department of Conservation
Peer review of rockfall risk assessment work undertaken by the lead geotechnical consultant for the Dolomite Point walkway at Punakaiki
Our Role
- Site inspection.
- Review of existing documentation.
- Assess likelihood and consequence.
- Consider risk using both international guidelines and DoC frameworks.

Residential Redevelopment - Russell Cliff Top Property

Sub-contracted to local geotechnical consultant to provide a cliff stability assessment for a proposed residential redevelopment at Russell in the Bay of Islands.
Our Role
- Engineering geological mapping of foreshore and cliff exposures.
- Identification of existing slope instability.
- Assessment of kinematically feasible failure mechanisms.
- Development of ground model to support geotechnical design.
Otaika Quarry - Overburden Disposal Area Geotechnical Design
Client: Winstone Aggregates
Detailed geotechnical design and construction supervision for the first stage of the Pegram Block OBDA at Otaika Quarry.

- Finalisation of shear key and toe buttress design to support overburden fill.
- Independent construction observations.
