What we do
Industrial, Infrastructure and Commercial
If you are looking at developing a site for commercial or industrial purposes, including green or brown fields, we are able to provide geotechnical services from the conceptual or consenting application phase through to project completion. We are also experienced with linear infrastructure projects, such as wastewater and potable water supply with particular expertise providing geotechnical support for trenchless construction. We work closely with planners, contaminated land specialists, civil engineers and ecologists to support your projects.
What we do
- Concept level desktop studies to support early stage project development or pre-purchase.
- Scope and undertake appropriate ground investigation.
- Conceptual ground model development.
- Modelling and data analysis.
- Assessment of foundation solutions and design parameters, liquefaction risk, retention design, and slope instability risk.
- Preparation of high quality written reports.
- Preparation of geotechnical baseline reports as part of infrastructure construction contracts.
Natural Hazards
New Zealand's positioning astride a plate boundary brings with it a range of natural hazards that may impact your site and influence how it may be developed. These hazards may include: landslides, rock fall, debris flows and earthquakes & liquefaction.
Our expertise in natural hazard assessment and management is based on our fundamental understanding of New Zealand's complex geology and our experience with the Resource Management Act (RMA).
Our experience with Resource Consent applications and close working relationship with RMA planning consultants means we can provide appropriate guidance so your project can either avoid, remedy or mitigate the impact of these natural hazards.
What we do
- Aerial photographic assessment of site geomorphology.
- Review of historical site performance.
- Geomorphic and geological site mapping.
- Preparation of site specific geotechnical hazard maps.
- Ground investigation and analyses.
- Inputs to site development Master Planning to maximise lot yield, while limiting exposure to site natural hazards.
- Design of remedial solutions.
- Construction observations.
Quarrying & Mining
We can assist you with both your mining and quarrying project developments as well as providing technical support to your operations.
This could include pit slope design, overburden disposal design, quarry resource assessment and where required 3D modelling of open pits and overburden disposal areas.
We have an excellent understanding of operational sites and wherever possible we will prioritise providing geotechnical advice to limit the risk of downtime for our clients’ plant and personnel. Further, our design solutions always consider site operational constraints.
What we do
- Assessment of new quarry resources.
- Geotechnical and geological input to resource consent applications.
- Quantify resource quality and quantity for quarry sites, we also work with specialists for mining resources.
- Assessment of rock mass structure.
- Geotechnical design of site water storage facilities .
- Pit slope geotechnical design.
- Overburden disposal geometric, volumetric and geotechnical design.
- Geotechnical design of tailings storage facilities and process water storage ponds.
- Support for operations, including assessment of slope instability.
